Traffic Splash Allows Spam??? HUH!
on May 14th, 2009 at 12:41Just so everybody knows, I am putting this out there because Traffic Splash has a renegade member. There is a slight chance the database at Traffic Splash has been comprimized but knnowing how well the ship is run over there it is doubtful. This article is for information gathering purposes and should be taken as such. It is not intended to defame Traffic Splash…
So, I get this AWeber list join confirmation e-mail:

I don’t know how this person did it but he was able to get my Traffic Splash email address (Only used with Traffic Splash) and my user name. Then this person used that data to subscribe me to a mailing list at Aweber. If you look at the data above you can see that the IP address “72.186.85.4″ was used to do the subscription of my email address. This is not my IP Address!!! I am not located in Florida!
Talk about misguided ethics! There might be quite a few people that have clicked on the confirmation link and subscribed to a e-mail list not assoicated with Traffic Splash thinking that it may have come from Traffic Splash. Sneaky Huh?
Anyway, after I post this article I am going to pop over to Traffic Splash and report this person via the support ticket system. I am also going to ask somebodyfrom over there to leave a comment or two here with their opinion about this method of Internet marketing. It would be cool if somebody would report this person to AWeber seeing they are abusing their site as well. I am not a member of AWeber otherwise, I would do the reporting myself.
I do encourage everybody to contact this spammer and let this person know that subscribing people to mailing lists without their permission really sucks ass! You may contact Leonard Oram by clicking on This Link – E-mail to Leonard Oram. Let Leonard Oram know how to do things right.
In closing, I’d like to welcome Leonard Oram to the WWW. Isn’t it great to be a newbie? Of all the people you have at your finger tips to screw with you selected me! The last person on Gods’ Green Earth somebody should subscribe to an email list without permission – LOL! Enjoy!
Take Care,
Phil

Hi Phil, thanks for letting me know.
I have suspended that members account. Our terms are very clear – we do not allow ANY unsolicited commercial email. However, we do allow upline/downline communication on an individual basis and we make it clear this is for support porpoises only – sorry, couldn’t resist there
If you wish to report him to aweber please feel free. I won’t be doing that. When (if) Leonard contacts us to find out why he was suspended I will explain that he can’t fill in other people’s emails to try and get them into his autoresponder. I suspect this is just inexperience and I prefer to give my customers the benefit of the doubt where possible.
Oh, I imagine you are probably aware but you shouldn’t receive any further emails from aweber unless you click the confirmation link in that email. Hope that helps.
Thanks again for the headsup
Paul
Hi Paul, thank you for posting your reply here. Another reason why I made the request for you to post here is to show others how well Traffic Splash is run. I think the response time is in minutes not hours or days…
Kudos to all at Traffic Splash for running such a well oiled machine.
I am sure Mr. Oram will get his act together and become a productive part of the Internet instead of comprimizing ethics. Sometimes it takes a few bumps and sharp curves to get there from here. Everybody is a newbie at one time or another.
I guess I can correctly assume the Traffic Splash Database is intact and that is not how he got my e-mail. I didn’teven think that it is exposed to him in the members area. My Bad – However it takes a big set of stinky nuts to have subscribed me to that mailing list – LOL!
Thanks again for your very prompt reply and action. You continue to be the example of how a TE should be run.
Take Care,
Phil
Thanks Phil,
Leonard has just contacted us so will be reading soon.
I expect his account will be unsuspended when he realises this wasn’t quite the right thing to do
Happy Splashing!
Paul
Dear Phil,
I thought I would take a minute to write to you in response to the confirmation letter you received from me via a-weber.
I recently signed up for an a-weber account and I submitted the names of people to have a confirmation letter sent to that had signed up in my downline from the sites I am a member at and in two instances sent a confirmation to my sponsers at two sites that I use the most.
You received a confirmation from me via a-weber because you were my sponsor at Traffic Splash.
After sending out the confirmation notes and receiving reponses there were a number of people who did not confirm yes or no and I contacted a-weber and asked what I could do with those people and they told me that recontacting them would be spamming so I have not sent any additional mail to them.
I have written a response to Paul and I am awaiting his response back and I did explain how this happened.
I did not intentionally do anything improper and being new to the list building concept through a-weber I did not realize that what I did was wrong. As all people trying a new method can make mistakes I want to apologize for any inconvenience I have caused you.
In closing, I have always tried to do everything in a correct fashion since I began trying to build an Internet Business and it is a bit sad that not only has my personal name and my e-mail address has been thrown in the light of a criminal without even being contacted and asked to explain my side of the situation to you personally…
Again, I do apologize for any inconvenience this unintentional error of procedure may have caused you.
Leonard Oram
Alls well that ends well!
Take Care,
Phil
