Traffic Exchange Owners Are Getting Dumb!
on April 26th, 2010 at 20:17I ran accross a Traffic Exchange I was going to join. While I was checking out the TOS and other pertinate parts of the site I noticed something I really didn’t like.
On the referral page There was not one link that could be considered to be from one of the members of the TE. Ya know, like the LJ script. There is always at least one banner and Text Ad from the membership on each page a visitor sees. This is neat-o because not only do members advertise the TE they also do secondary advertising for other members when the text and banner ads are displayed.
Getting back to the site I visited today. Not only did it not have any home grown advertising on the page for the members it also had 24 different resources listed on the referral page in the form of links to the outside. Did you catch that? Lets say I joined this TE and were to advertise it. By me sending my referrals to the page I would actually be sending them to the other 24 resources listed on it. This is crazy! Not one of the outside resources was for a member at the TE either.
Well, from now on I am not going to join any TE’s or promote any TE’s where more than 25% of the links on the referral page are pointing to outside resources. This has got to stop and i am going to do my part to stop it!
Needless to say, i am not going to be joining this TE any time soon…
